Smara

The Name

Smara comes from Sanskrit — smara (स्मर), from the root smṛ, to remember. It's the same root behind smṛti, one of the two great streams of classical Indian textual tradition: knowledge kept alive not by decree, but by being remembered and carried forward, person to person.
